Our faithful friend Digger RIP

Today we buried Digger, our ferret. He was 6 1/2 years old which is a ripe old age for a ferret. Even though I was deathly afraid of him and I constantly complained that he stunk up the den I'm going to miss him so much. He had a gentle soul and was a great companion for Bob, especially when he first started travel nursing and was staying in apartments. Once, in Rocky Mount, Bob was getting ready to move and his washer and his dryer were already out of his apartment. Digger snuck out of the dryer vent hole and ended up in some lady's apartment. Digger ended up at an animal shelter and Bob had to go bail him out of Ferret jail.
He had a huge cage which would be considered a mansion to most ferrets. He loved to sleep in his hammock and often would hang out in his little wooden house that Bob and Shaniah made for him. Sometimes Bob would let him out of his cage so he and Nutsy could play. Nutsy would chase him around the house but would never hurt him. They were really good buddies.
We buried Digger behind my greenhouse next to the bunnies that we tried to nurse back to health this summer. Both Bob and I were really down today. Its funny how pets become family. Digger will always be in our hearts.

Hey guys, sorry to hear about your loss. Pets seem to become part of the family over time. Keep in touch
I just ran across your Adventure site again and thought I would check to see if you updated (since your honeymoon...long time)! I am so sorry to hear about your ferret. He was a neat pet and I know Bob really liked having him.
We lost our Maddie (cocker) the day before Thanksgiving and it is still sad to think of her gone.
Love you,
Aunt Kathy
